EARTH STABILIZATION
Positive effect of natural zeolite in the course of chemical amelioration of land has been established when 25 to 30 tons of it are introduced per one hectare. The change in pH value of the soil solution is rather substantial from pH 4.2 to pH 6.5.
Introduction of natural zeolite into sandy clay in the amount of 15 t/ha increases the capacity of cation exchange by 0,9 to 2,1 mg equivalent/100 g of the soil, i.e. by 12,9 to 30,0 % of the initial value, and steadily persists in the soil for 5 years.
Natural zeolite possesses the capability to neutralize partially soil acidity and may be used as an independent lime fertilizer.. Natural zeolite introduced into the soil reduces losses of nitrogen fertilizers, increasing the efficiency of their use by 20 to 25 percent.
Being capable to adsorb water, natural zeolite abruptly changes the hydrological regime of soils, increasing their field moisture load and cutting down non-productive desiccation of the 0 to 100cm layer by 28 to 58 percent.
